A Happy Birthday edition

OK so it's not quite my birthday yet, by my clock I have 18 minutes until the midnight hour. I think the last time I wrote a blog, it was a little less than 3 months ago or a little more than 2 months, depending on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist (I don't think that makes sense) but anyway......

I finally found out the answer to my question about my future at the company I currently work. I'll be without a job in the beginning of July, but I'll be financially secure for a few months after that so I should be fine. I'd give a lot more details on the matter but I don't want to go into a lot of details on here, so drop me an email and I will tell you in a more private setting.

I'm actually looking forward to looking for a new job. I feel as though I have a clean slate to start from, and I can go in any direction that I wish. The only problem is I have to figure out where and what I want to do. It's a very exciting decision to be made, but I'm also very nervous and anxious about it at the same time. If anyone wants to advise me on how to make such a decision, I'd appreciate it.

I took the whole week off for my birthday. I don't have much planned, but I think those are the best vacations. One thing I plan to do is take a day trip down to Boston later this week to scout out something and just take in the sites. I'm going to do it no matter how bad the weather is, because I don't wuss out like that.

I actually want to take a look at where some comedy clubs are so I can finally scratch this stand up comedy itch I have had for a very long time. I figure since I will have some free time, I might as well see if I am any good at it. Everyone seems to think I can do it, which is encouraging, so we will see how it goes.

One show I've become a huge fan of in the past month or so is the HBO series "In Treatment". It's currently in it's second season right now. I find it very fascinating how it's just half hour shows with just two actors having a dialogue with one another. If you have HBO, I highly encourage that you watch it.

HOLY CRAP IT'S MIDNIGHT!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! YAHOOOOO.......Um ok got that out of my system. So 33 years old now, damn! I did a quiz to see what my magic number is, and it's 6, which is 3+3 for those of you mathematically challenged, so maybe this will be a great year for me. No wait, IT WILL BE!!!!!

I believe I mentioned this in my previous post, but I did buy Pearl Jam's "Ten" reissue. I got the version that contained two cd's a remastered and remixed version of the album and a dvd of the 1992 unplugged. I think it's pretty good and I look forward to see what Pearl Jam comes out with to commemorate their 20th anniversary.

One of my favorite seasons of the year has started, SUMMER MOVIE SEASON. I plan to see "Wolverine" sometime this week and maybe see "Star Trek" this weekend. I love movies and I love watching movies in the theatre during the summer, so it should be a fun couple of months, and something to comfort me when I'll be jobless.

OK, that's about it. Maybe now that I will have more free time, I'll write more of these. We'll see how it goes. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Cinco de K-Mac!!!!

Golf, Pearl Jam, Lost etc.........

OK new blog, I don't think I've done one of these since November or something. I should write these more often, but I'm too lazy. I hate the fact that I'm so lazy, but of course I'm too lazy to do anything about it. How does one become unlazy? Anybody know?

I just got back from my annual golf trip a few days ago. I usually go down to the Myrtle Beach, SC area every February with my Dad and his friends and friends of friends and what not. This year was different because my Dad had to work and could not get the time off to go down. I still had a good time. The weather was the best we've had for the trip, consistently being Sunny and in the 70's every day. Overall, counting the post trip I went on to Pinehurst NC, I raked in 156 holes of golf. I think I'm warmed up for when Golf season starts up here sometime in March or April.

The only bad thing about the trip was coming back up north. It wasn't even all that cold up here when I returned. It was in the teens for a high when I left and in the 30's when I returned. Of course having to relax in 70 degree temps for a week and a half, it destroyed my defenses so it took a few days to get my tolerance back, but I think I'm better now.

Speaking of Winter, I hate it. I have been back up north for 4 or 5 years now and I'm still not used to it. The dread of winter depresses me greatly. I'm seriously considering a move back down south but I'm waiting to see how things pan out up here.......stay tuned.

I'm eagerly anticipating Pearl Jam's reissue of "Ten". I understand there will be some bonus tracks and certain packages of it may include a DVD of their MTV Unplugged performance from many years ago. This couple with a new album that may also be out sometime this year make for a very exciting 2009 for Pearl Jam fans.

This next bit of news may become shocking to people. I'm thinking of rescinding my U2 fanhood. I awaited to hear the new "Get on your Boots" single and my initial reaction was "eh" it sounded like the first single from their last album. I have found myself not liking them as much over the past few years and hearing this new single may have been this icing on the cake. I do intend to buy the new album, so stay tuned, I may not rescind my fanhood after all.

I don't care what anyone says, "Lost" is the best show on TV. The characters, the story lines, the hot chicks are just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that each show answers questions but then asks even more questions. Every time an episode ends, I find myself screaming "DAMN THAT SHOW!!!!!". The show is extremely addicting, which is why I have taken it upon myself to addict as many people as possible. I think it's a true testament to the show that I have yet to have someone that has borrowed my DVDs give it back to me and say "how can you watch that crap?". If you want to borrow my DVDs, I can put you on the waiting list, or you can just buy your own!!!

The Oscars are coming up this weekend I think. I don't think I am going to try very hard to watch it. Although I am curious to see how well Hugh Jackman does as host. I think I am only rooting for two people to win awards, Heath Ledger and Mickey Rourke. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was better than Jack Nicholson's portrayal, and I never thought that would happen. I also firmly believe if he hadn't died, he still would have been nominated.

As I said, I'm also rooting for Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler". I have yet to see the movie, it's finally going to be showing here starting Friday, but I did see a preview and I was admittedly moved by it. Plus, I'm a wrestling fan so that's why I want to see it too.

Lastly, I want to make a movie recommendation. I think everyone should go see the new Liam Neeson movie "Taken". It's a movie that's basically 90 minutes of kick assery. I enjoyed every minute of it and it kept me captivated the entire time. OK, I think that's it for now, see ya next time!!!!!

Election, FSU and Pearls before Swine Oh My!!!!! (among other things)

OK, it had been a few months since I wrote one of these. I did some preparation for this blog the past few days. I wrote down some topics on a small piece of paper and thought I would get to writing this at some point. I was ready to write it today, but I can't find the bloody list! Oh well, I think I remember most of the items, so I will take a stab at it. Here we go.

So we had a presidential election a few weeks ago. Obama won, McCain lost, yadda yadda yadda. I am not going to gloat about anything in this blog, trust me. I have a complaint. I am annoyed that there are people out there already saying "Don't blame me, I voted for McCain". You don't even want to give Obama a chance? Give me a break! Back in 2000, after George W Bush was eventually declared the winner, I gave him a chance. I quickly changed my mind on him after a few of his decisions, but at least I gave him a chance.

Woohoo, I found the list! All is right with the world!

Another thing I want to complain about the election is that I see people saying that they are considering running in 2012! THE 2008 ELECTION JUST ENDED PEOPLE! I swear, there needs to be some reforms about this election business. It just annoys the crap out of me that this goes on and on for like 2 years or so. I'm not saying it's not important because electing the leaders of our country is a big deal, I'm just saying that things need to be done to make it seem like it doesn't go one forever.

As of Monday night, my house has finally entered the 21st century. We got high speed Internet!!!! It's sooooooooooo much faster than the crappy dial up connection we had, so much faster. I love not having to wait 20 minutes for the dial up connection to bring up stuff. Did I mention how fast it was?

This coming Sunday, I am going to "Survivor Series" down at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston with 2 friends of mine. I'm looking forward to having a fun time. I might even blog about it come Monday so stay tuned.

Now let's get into the FSU portion of this blog. Is it me or do football players get suspended every week? Last week 5 WR's got suspended for there involvement in a campus brawl. I have not heard anything this week, but there may be more news from that brawl coming out today, so yay! more potential suspensions? Hopefully the players finally get the picture and stop doing stuff like skipping class or getting involved in brawls and just focus on playing football.

FSU did lose last Saturday to Boston College. BC is my second favorite team so I guess it wasn't that bad (It still sucked). I did find it quite hilarious that fans on the message boards were complaining about the Black Uniforms they were wearing and maybe that's why they lost. Call me crazy, but I really don't think the colors of your uniforms has any relevance in whether you win or lose, but that's just me. Get a grip people.

It has not been since "Calvin and Hobbes" was in the Daily comics, that I was able to say "this comic is my favorite". I have a new favorite comic strip now! "Pearls Before Swine" is my absolute favorite comic. I encourage everyone to take a gander at it if you have the opportunity. My favorite character is Rat, but they have a bunch of other characters as well that are all very funny in their own way.

I need one more topic, I only had 7 on my list. Um.........still thinking.........Oh wait I got it! I seriously want to start doing stand up comedy at Open Mike nights. I have some material already and I think I am ready to give it a try. If anyone knows of any Open Mike nights in New Hampshire, Vermont or Massachusetts, drop me a line and let me know. Thanks!

OK, well that's it for now. Like I mentioned earlier, I may write a blog about "Survivor Series" on Monday so keep an eye out for that. I think I definitely will write something about it, but I am not quite sure what I will write about yet. Just stay tuned and maybe there will be something on Monday.

Last Night.............

Last night was very fun for 3 reasons:

1.) I had to go into work at 1 PM for our fall celebration. That's not the good part because I had to rush into work to barely get in 1 PM. The good part is one of the festivities was pumpkin smashing. I got to smash a couple pumpkins and oh my dear goodness is that addicting! I am suffering from pumpkin smashing withdrawals now, I have the uncontrollable urge to go to a pumpkin patch and smash the hell out of some pumpkins, hopefully this feeling will pass.

2.) Since I had to come in at work at 1 PM, I got to leave at 9 PM. I got home in time to watch the second half of the Florida State - NC State football game on ESPN. FSU was down 10-6 at half time, but came back to win 26-17, which was terrific! I was glad I got home to see it.

3.) After I watched the game, I went out to the bar at 11 PMish. I was just going there to have a few beers because the Red Sox were down 7-0 and I didn't expect them to come back and win. BUT BOY DID THEY!!!!! I wasn't even paying attention at first and all of a sudden it's 7-4. Then JD Drew hits a homer and it's 7-6. Drew then hits the game winning hit to win the game 8-7! Sure they may lose the series, but last nights game was awesome!

And that's why Last Night was a fun time!

Blame Amber for this.....

Leave it to me reading Amber's blog (which is linked over to the right btw) for me to remember "Hey I have a blog on this site too!" It has been a while since I wrote a blog on here, so I might as well do that today, I've got nothing to do.

Well the summer is almost over, which means the summer movie season is almost over. I suppose it's time for me to pick what I think is the best movie of the summer, boy that's a tough decision......No it's not, THE DARK KNIGHT! Without question TDK was the best movie of the summer, hell it was the best movie of the year! The best Batman movie ever, in my humble opinion. Put it this way, if I went to the crappy theatre in Lebanon FOUR TIMES to see it, that should tell you how spectacular that movie was OK?????

I think the major reason I have not written anything on here lately is because I am working on my stand up comedy material. I probably have 6 or 7 pages of material right now. Most of it probably needs more work and I have deleted some stuff I don't like anymore, but I think it's coming along nicely. If there is no company picnic (and I don't believe there will be) I will need to find an open mic night somewhere in the area. Anyone who can help me out with that, I'd appreciate it.

Well another NFL season is upon us. I have completed the drafts of the two fantasy football teams I have, and I don't like to brag but I expect to kick some ass this year. I have high expectations, but I think my players can live up to it, at least they better. I actually bought a Pats jersey this year and bought a Jerrod Mayo jersey. He was their first round draft pick this year. I didn't want Brady or Moss because everyone else does. So I thought my birthday is Cinqo de Mayo, so getting a Pats jersey with "MAYO" on the back makes sense.

Along with the NFL season, College football season is now upon us too of course. I have to admit I enjoy college football more, the atmosphere with it is so much more energetic than the NFL. While I have high expectations for the Pats and my two fantasy football teams, I can not really say that for my beloved Florida State Seminoles. I just hope they have a record better than 7-6, because a third straight 7-6 season would really suck. GO NOLES!!!!!

On June 30th I went to the Pearl Jam concert I had been babbling about in my previous blogs. It was at the Comcast center formerly known as the Tweeter center which will probably be named something else the next time I go there. Next time I go there, I am bringing a pillow and taking a nap and wait for all the other cars to leave, leaving there is ridiculous! Other than that the concert was great! They played their usual staples and also played some rare songs like "Wash" and "Bee Girl". I can not wait for the next tour, next year perhaps?

On August 2nd I went to a Bruce Springsteen concert with my folks and my sister. That concert was at Gillette stadium, where the defending AFC Champion Patriots play. That was my first time there for any event, very nice place! The concert was pretty good. I was quite impressed with Springsteens performance. He played for about 3 hours and hardly took any breaks, pretty good for a 58 year old. The other guitar player was good too (not the guy from the sopranos, but the other guy, I forgot his name). My god is that Max Weinberg a friggin machine on the drums or what?

I bought WWE tickets a few weeks ago. Me and two friends from work are going to "Survivor Series" on Sunday November 23rd at the Garden in Boston. It'll be my first WWE Pay Per View in about 8 years, which was also a "Survivor Series". I'm looking forward to it. I think it'll be fun.

For the past year, I thought I would have been making my final credit card payment on 8/8/2008. Well I made a major muscalculation. Fortunately is was an outstanding miscalculation! I made my last payment in July instead, about a month earlier! So I am now free of those ugly credit cards, hopefully never to have any again!

Well that's it for this time. I hope you all enjoyed it. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day weekend........what the hell did I just write? I am such a sap sometimes it's ridiculous. Peace out homies!!!!!!!!!
