A Happy Birthday edition

OK so it's not quite my birthday yet, by my clock I have 18 minutes until the midnight hour. I think the last time I wrote a blog, it was a little less than 3 months ago or a little more than 2 months, depending on whether you're an optimist or a pessimist (I don't think that makes sense) but anyway......

I finally found out the answer to my question about my future at the company I currently work. I'll be without a job in the beginning of July, but I'll be financially secure for a few months after that so I should be fine. I'd give a lot more details on the matter but I don't want to go into a lot of details on here, so drop me an email and I will tell you in a more private setting.

I'm actually looking forward to looking for a new job. I feel as though I have a clean slate to start from, and I can go in any direction that I wish. The only problem is I have to figure out where and what I want to do. It's a very exciting decision to be made, but I'm also very nervous and anxious about it at the same time. If anyone wants to advise me on how to make such a decision, I'd appreciate it.

I took the whole week off for my birthday. I don't have much planned, but I think those are the best vacations. One thing I plan to do is take a day trip down to Boston later this week to scout out something and just take in the sites. I'm going to do it no matter how bad the weather is, because I don't wuss out like that.

I actually want to take a look at where some comedy clubs are so I can finally scratch this stand up comedy itch I have had for a very long time. I figure since I will have some free time, I might as well see if I am any good at it. Everyone seems to think I can do it, which is encouraging, so we will see how it goes.

One show I've become a huge fan of in the past month or so is the HBO series "In Treatment". It's currently in it's second season right now. I find it very fascinating how it's just half hour shows with just two actors having a dialogue with one another. If you have HBO, I highly encourage that you watch it.

HOLY CRAP IT'S MIDNIGHT!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! YAHOOOOO.......Um ok got that out of my system. So 33 years old now, damn! I did a quiz to see what my magic number is, and it's 6, which is 3+3 for those of you mathematically challenged, so maybe this will be a great year for me. No wait, IT WILL BE!!!!!

I believe I mentioned this in my previous post, but I did buy Pearl Jam's "Ten" reissue. I got the version that contained two cd's a remastered and remixed version of the album and a dvd of the 1992 unplugged. I think it's pretty good and I look forward to see what Pearl Jam comes out with to commemorate their 20th anniversary.

One of my favorite seasons of the year has started, SUMMER MOVIE SEASON. I plan to see "Wolverine" sometime this week and maybe see "Star Trek" this weekend. I love movies and I love watching movies in the theatre during the summer, so it should be a fun couple of months, and something to comfort me when I'll be jobless.

OK, that's about it. Maybe now that I will have more free time, I'll write more of these. We'll see how it goes. I hope everyone has a safe and fun Cinco de K-Mac!!!!

Golf, Pearl Jam, Lost etc.........

OK new blog, I don't think I've done one of these since November or something. I should write these more often, but I'm too lazy. I hate the fact that I'm so lazy, but of course I'm too lazy to do anything about it. How does one become unlazy? Anybody know?

I just got back from my annual golf trip a few days ago. I usually go down to the Myrtle Beach, SC area every February with my Dad and his friends and friends of friends and what not. This year was different because my Dad had to work and could not get the time off to go down. I still had a good time. The weather was the best we've had for the trip, consistently being Sunny and in the 70's every day. Overall, counting the post trip I went on to Pinehurst NC, I raked in 156 holes of golf. I think I'm warmed up for when Golf season starts up here sometime in March or April.

The only bad thing about the trip was coming back up north. It wasn't even all that cold up here when I returned. It was in the teens for a high when I left and in the 30's when I returned. Of course having to relax in 70 degree temps for a week and a half, it destroyed my defenses so it took a few days to get my tolerance back, but I think I'm better now.

Speaking of Winter, I hate it. I have been back up north for 4 or 5 years now and I'm still not used to it. The dread of winter depresses me greatly. I'm seriously considering a move back down south but I'm waiting to see how things pan out up here.......stay tuned.

I'm eagerly anticipating Pearl Jam's reissue of "Ten". I understand there will be some bonus tracks and certain packages of it may include a DVD of their MTV Unplugged performance from many years ago. This couple with a new album that may also be out sometime this year make for a very exciting 2009 for Pearl Jam fans.

This next bit of news may become shocking to people. I'm thinking of rescinding my U2 fanhood. I awaited to hear the new "Get on your Boots" single and my initial reaction was "eh" it sounded like the first single from their last album. I have found myself not liking them as much over the past few years and hearing this new single may have been this icing on the cake. I do intend to buy the new album, so stay tuned, I may not rescind my fanhood after all.

I don't care what anyone says, "Lost" is the best show on TV. The characters, the story lines, the hot chicks are just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that each show answers questions but then asks even more questions. Every time an episode ends, I find myself screaming "DAMN THAT SHOW!!!!!". The show is extremely addicting, which is why I have taken it upon myself to addict as many people as possible. I think it's a true testament to the show that I have yet to have someone that has borrowed my DVDs give it back to me and say "how can you watch that crap?". If you want to borrow my DVDs, I can put you on the waiting list, or you can just buy your own!!!

The Oscars are coming up this weekend I think. I don't think I am going to try very hard to watch it. Although I am curious to see how well Hugh Jackman does as host. I think I am only rooting for two people to win awards, Heath Ledger and Mickey Rourke. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was better than Jack Nicholson's portrayal, and I never thought that would happen. I also firmly believe if he hadn't died, he still would have been nominated.

As I said, I'm also rooting for Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler". I have yet to see the movie, it's finally going to be showing here starting Friday, but I did see a preview and I was admittedly moved by it. Plus, I'm a wrestling fan so that's why I want to see it too.

Lastly, I want to make a movie recommendation. I think everyone should go see the new Liam Neeson movie "Taken". It's a movie that's basically 90 minutes of kick assery. I enjoyed every minute of it and it kept me captivated the entire time. OK, I think that's it for now, see ya next time!!!!!
